Berner Garde # 53290

“Goofy Gus”, “Galumphing Gus”, “Gorgeous Gus” – all describe this very special Belgian boy. He has finally emerged from his many awkward ages and developed into a very nice-looking fella. And you cannot top his temperament. Easy-going, calm, and extremely loving, this guy is a joy to live with.

He passed his CGC with flying colors after one beginner obedience course. He is now registered with the Delta Society as a therapy dog, and enjoys bringing his special brand of Berner love to the folks at our local cancer center. He is not perfect, however. He can be stubborn on occasion, as when you want to get him into the bathtub and he doesn’t feel like getting wet that day. He subscribes to the peaceful resistance theory, he simply lies down and becomes dead weight. At 125 pounds this method is actually quite successful. But his generous, sunny spirit always carries the day in the end.

Gus finished his championship in April, 2009, under the expert handling of Michelle Scott. I was especially proud of his placing in the Stud Dog class at the 2010 National Specialty, with his kids Harry and Emmie behind him. Gus is proving to be a very nice stud dog indeed, throwing his bone, head, coat, and most importantly his wonderful temperament, to his offspring. Many, many thanks to Andre and Maria Verscheuren-Claes of deKlaverhoeve Berner Sennen for entrusting this wonderful boy to me.
